Dry Creek Valley
Our 2014 Zinfandel is a nuanced counterpoint to the heavy super-ripe Zins on the market today, but with an unmistakable bright and lively Zin character. Made in the exquisite claret style, it is marked by zesty acidity, pronounced aromas of strawberry and baking spice and herbal undertones. It shows red fruit characteristics with pepperiness on the palate and a lingering aftertaste with hints of spicy nutmeg and cinnamon.
The grapes were picked on September 17, 2014 and fermented with 90 percent whole berries to preserve the bright fruity character of the grapes. Ageing in a combination of used American and French oak barrels for 17 months imparts a subtle touch of oak. A small amount of Malbec was added for increased weight and mouthfeel. Bottled unfined and unfiltered on May 17, 2016.
Zinfandel is a versatile red and SoMa’s Zin exhibits classic brambleberry fruit flavors which make it a perfect match for your pasta dishes, pizza, barbeque, and any other spicy or seasoned dishes.
