2013 Cabernet Sauvignon
Rutherford Bench, Broken Rock, Ink Grade vineyards
Our 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from three of Napa's finest properties, the famed mid-elevation Rutherford Bench Vineyard in the Mayacamas Mountains to the west of Napa Valley, and Broken Rock Vineyard above Soda Canyon on Atlas Peak and the Ink Grade Vineyard on Howell Mountain both on the eastern ridge of the valley. Each vineyard contributes its unique characteristics to create a wine reflecting the complex range of Napa’s aromas and flavors. It’s a classic Napa Cab that is approachable while young but with the structure to improve with age.
The wine is our signature traditional style emphasizing dark fruits, with herbal, spicy aromatics and medium weight and length. On the palate there is a pronounced core of black cherry and dark chocolate with hints of cedar and allspice. Bold tannins anchor a long, satisfying finish. The complex flavors are well integrated in the youthful wine and will continue to improve over the next 6 to 7 years. It is an elegant accompaniment to food.
Our 2013 Napa Cab was harvested between September 17, 2013 and October 9, 2013, fermented using 90 percent whole berries to emphasize bright fruit characteristics and aged for 22 months in 45 percent new French oak barrels. Small amounts of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc were added to enhance the mouthfeel and enliven the aromatics. The wine was bottled on July 21, 2015.
Cabernet Sauvignon is the king of red wines and our Napa Valley Cab pairs well with steak, roasts, hearty stews, wild game, mild or strong cheeses and for dessert, the classic pairing of Chocolate & Cab!
